The Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram, is a leading autonomous social science research institution under the aegis of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Government of India, and the Department of Planning and Economic Affairs, Government of Kerala. The Centre pursues an active research programme across a range of themes in applied development economics and offers highly regarded Ph.D. and M.A. programmes in Economics and Applied Economics, respectively. The degrees are awarded by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. The Centre is currently inviting applications for the following positions:

Associate Professor: (1 Unreserved, 1 ST) Pay Matrix: Academic Level 13A of 7^th Central Pay Matrix

Preference will be given to those who can teach at the masters’ and PhD levels, as well as supervise doctoral research scholars.
They should be able to work in a multicultural research environment.
The selected candidates are expected to join duty by the last week of June 2026.

Associate Professor (1 Unreserved, 1 ST)

PhD(awarded) in Economics/ Statistics/ Demography or any Social Science subjects, who work in issues related to development;

A Master‘s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed) (A relaxation of 5% (i.e. from 55% to 50%) marks at the Master’s level is allowed for the reserved category).

A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and / or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry with a minimum of seven publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
